Job Description

The Downtown Dundas Business Improvement Area is hiring a Summer Student for the role of Junior Event Coordinator. This job is suitable for applicants considering a career in Event Planning, Marketing, Urban Studies or a similar program. This position is for seven weeks for 30 hours per week including some Saturdays.

Qualifications

  • Must have attended school full time during the 2016/17 academic year and must be returning as a full time student for the upcoming year

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age

  • Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act2

  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial legislation and regulation

  • Creative problem solving

  • Interpersonal skills

  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal

Duties

  • Assist the coordinator with planning of the BIA’s seasonal events

  • support committees and working groups responsible for the planning of events

  • Supports in research and seeking resources

  • Assist with the preparation and distribution of event materials

  • Assist with the creation of seasonal marketing programs and ads

  • Provide support to the coordinator

  • Additional tasks as required

This position is for seven weeks for 30 hours per week including Saturdays.
