Press Release

The Downtown Dundas BIA wants to confirm its position with regard to the matter of the Accommodation Review by the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board and its pending decision which will impact secondary school education in Dundas. The BIA believes that Dundas can support two high schools and that Parkside and Highland should both remain open and operational.

The BIA Board of Management is in place for the purpose of promoting business in the downtown core. The potential loss of one of our high schools is of concern to us.  However, within its boundaries, it is not in a position to dictate policies or rules to the many individually owned and operated businesses within the BIA boundaries.

Several members of the Board are proud graduates of  Highland Secondary or Parkside High,  as are many of the owners/managers of the businesses in the downtown area.

Some individual business owners may choose to display posters and brochures in support of the group who are working diligently to preserve the continuation of education at Parkside.

“We value and appreciate both schools, as well as the students, parents, teaching staff, and citizens in the Community of Dundas, and will continue to be proud supporters of all.”, said Phyllis Kraemer, President of the Downtown Dundas BIA.
